Freedom from disease in psoriasis

Freedom from disease in psoriasis

Freedom from disease in psoriasis – a new definition

Freedom from disease in psoriasis

Freedom from disease in psoriasis is all about giving the patient an equal say in what it means to be disease free.

This matters because it’s only by bringing together the voices of doctors, nurses, and their patients that a fuller understanding of what it means to be “free” from psoriasis is possible.

What does freedom from disease look like in psoriasis?

Freedom from disease in psoriasis

In a recent study, a large group of patients, doctors and nurses helped build a consensus about what freedom from disease looks like in psoriasis.[1] They identified five core domains that need to be addressed for freedom from disease to be achieved:

  1. Quality of life and well-being
  2. Treatment
  3. Healthcare team support
  4. Psychosocial elements
  5. Management of clinical symptoms

These results will help foster better communication between doctors, nurses and their patients and lead to better understanding and improvements in the care of psoriasis
